DENVER—Republican Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler is seeking a court order to force Gov. John Hickenlooper to set election dates in the recall elections of two Democratic state lawmakers.
In a court filing over the weekend, Gessler asks for an emergency hearing because he claims Hickenlooper, a Democrat, has refused to perform his constitutional duty to set a date for recall elections of Senate President John Morse, a Democrat from Colorado Springs, and Sen. Angela Giron, a Democrat from Pueblo.
According to the Denver Post ( ), Hickenlooper is waiting on a court hearing Wednesday seeking an injunction until confusion over state law can be settled.
