DENVER—Former Colorado House Majority Leader Alice Madden is heading to Washington to work for the Department of Energy.

The Denver Post reports ( ) the Boulder Democrat will serve as deputy assistant secretary of intergovernmental affairs and external relations.

Madden and then-Speaker Andrew Romanoff led the House Democrats for four years until term limits forced them out after 2008.
