GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The state agency in charge of managing Colorado’s big game population is paying a heavy price for animal incidents.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife paid over $1 million in compensation for big game incidents across the state in 2012.
According to KREX-TV ( ), Colorado Parks and Wildlife is required to compensate all agriculture producers that suffer a loss as the result of a big game animal. They are also forced to eliminate animals that misbehave, taking a toll on one of the state’s big tourism draws.
