Brush becomes new No. 1 in 2A prep football poll

After a 28-10 win Friday over then top-ranked Platte Valley, Brush claims the No. 1 spot in this week’s 2A football poll.

The Beetdiggers become the third team to take the top position this season. No. 2 Kent Denver moves up one spot while Platte Valley falls to No. 3. Faith Christian (No. 8) and Aspen (No. 10) enter the poll, replacing Eaton and Bayfield.

In Class 5A, No. 1 ThunderRidge widens its lead over No. 2 Valor Christian. Regis Jesuit falls four spots to No. 9 after its loss to No. 6 Cherokee Trail last week. Cherry Creek (No. 10) re-enters the poll after a 48-0 win over Denver East.

Monarch stays at No. 1 in 4A, receiving 19 of the 21 first-place votes. Montrose, with the other two votes, moves into No. 2 this week. Denver South drops six spots into No. 8 after a 31-24 loss to Montbello (No. 6) Saturday. Pine Creek re-enters the poll while undefeated Windsor drops out.

Silver Creek continues its season-long reign at No. 1 in 3A after a 45-14 win over Holy Family, which drops four spots to No. 7. Delta (No. 9) and Evergreen (No. 10) enter the poll, replacing Roosevelt and Conifer.

With a 46-0 win over John Mall Friday, No. 1 Buena Vista stays at No. 1 in the 1A rankings. Centauri makes the biggest move, jumping four spots to No. 5. No. 10 Meeker makes its first appearance on the poll, taking over for Crowley County.

Hoehne stays at No. 1 in the 8-man poll, holding onto a three-point lead over No. 2 Dayspring Christian. Liberty/Stratton sits at No. 1 in the 6-man rankings. No. 4 Briggsdale makes its first appearance of the season, taking over for defending champion Fleming.
