The pilot of a small, experimental aircraft was injured Thursday morning when the plane crashed as it approached a landing.
The incident happened about 11:30 a.m. at the Front Range Airport, 5200 Front Range Parkway in Watkins, officials said.
The pilot, the only person on board, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, said Capt. Tim McCawley of the Bennett Fire Department.
The aircraft sustained heavy damage and the crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
