GOLDEN, Colo.—Contractors and Colorado Department of Transportation crews are rushing to shore up portions of roadways damaged by the September floods to allow people into their homes before winter sets in.

Colorado’s congressional delegation was told Monday that roads damaged and closed by the flooding will be open by Dec. 1.

Transportation Department spokeswoman Mindy Crane tells the Denver Post () portions of some highways are being filled in with gravel.
