Denver police arrested a man who they suspect stole a cell phone from a woman in a wheelchair along the 16th Street Mall earlier this month.

The man, identified as 19-year-old Dontae Richardson-Riley, was taken into custody Friday morning in the 3200 block of Ash Street, said Raquel Lopez, a police spokeswoman.

The Street, according to a police.

The robber ripped the phone, which was attached to a lanyard, from around the neck of the paraplegic victim, who also is unable to speak, and then fled on foot.

Richardson-Riley’s name was originally withheld because police believed he was a juvenile.

According to court records, he is currently serving two year’s probation for felony attempted trespass of a dwelling and misdemeanor theft.
