COLORADO SPRINGS — Schriever Air Force Base officials identified two airmen who died in a head-on crash Wednesday as Airman 1st Class Edward Yu and Airman 1st Class Abtron O’Neal.
Both Yu and O’Neal were assigned to the 3rd Space Operations Squadron, according to a news release.
The airmen were driving east on Colorado 94 at about 6 a.m. Wednesday and apparently swerved into the westbound lane to avoid a couch that was on the roadway, Colorado Springs police said.
The vehicle they were in struck a GMC Sierra pickup truck.
Police said Yu and O’Neal were pronounced dead upon impact.
Schriever officials said there will be a memorial service for Yu and O’Neal but could not release any details.
