Police were investigating an assault and a possible stabbing at the McDonald’s restaurant on the 16th Street Mall, which was blocked off with police tape Sunday night for about 60 minutes.
Officers were called at approximately 5:50 p.m. after an assault at the 200 block of the 16th Street Mall.
A small crowd outside the restaurant verbally assaulted a Hispanic male they accused of stabbing another patron. The male went inside the restaurant, where he was attacked by two men and a woman wielding a crutch.
The male went outside, where he was brutally kicked and punched by another man. The victim then retreated inside the restaurant.
Police arrived to find the sidewalk and restaurant floor covered in blood. They were unable to find the alleged stabbing victim, and they took the victim of the assault to Denver Health Medical Center.
Police said no charges have been filed. They didn’t release the name of the assault victim.
