LOS ANGELES — MSNBC has ended Alec Baldwin’s short-lived interview program, two weeks after the actor’s outburst at a photographer that included an anti-gay slur.
“Up Late,” which had also suffered low ratings in only five shows since its October debut, was suspended for two weeks after Baldwin’s caught-on-camera tirade outside a New York courthouse. Baldwin apologized, and the show was to resume production Friday.
The same day Baldwin was suspended, MSNBC’s Martin Bashir made a graphic suggestion for how Sarah Palin should be punished for comments on slavery. Bashir apologized and MSNBC said it is handling the problems internally.
The latest controversy involving Baldwin snowballed after TMZ published video of him climbing out of a car and berating a photographer with a vulgar gay slur.
