Michigan native and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Cohen is better known as Mayer Hawthorne, a white R&B singer whose pitch-perfect soul impression transcends retro-homage and strays into honest Motown territory — minus the historical pedigree. Cohen’s band will play at the Ogden Theatre on Feb. 11. Tickets are on sale. ($22.50-$25, axs.com)

Alt- and indie-rock fans who don’t mind the drive to Aspen’s Belly Up will be rewarded in the coming weeks. After opening for the String Cheese Incident at the 1stBank Center on Dec. 29, psych-rock freaks the Flaming Lips will play Dec. 30-31 with opener Midlake. Tickets are what you might expect for a New Year’s Eve stint in Aspen ($165-$675). Just before that, Weezer will play there Dec. 26-27 ($160-$425), and the National will welcome the first week of the new year with Jan. 2-3 shows ($165-$485). All are on sale via bellyupaspen.com.

Manowar’s classic 1988 album “Kings of Metal” will get the 25th anniversary treatment with a deluxe reissue and “Kings Of Metal MMXIV” tour, which finds the band playing the Ogden on Feb. 18. The (surprisingly expensive) tickets for the show are on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 29. ($75-$100, axs.com)

Franz Ferdinand’s jumpy post-punk will return to Colorado with an April 21 stop at the Gothic Theatre to promote the band’s inscrutably titled new platter “Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action.” Tickets are on sale. ($29.50, axs.com)

Denver’s 32-member Itchy-O Marching Band threw its name onto the list of worthy New Year’s Eve shows this week with a Dec. 31 set at 3 Kings Tavern, with Men in Burka and DJ Dr. Whom. Tickets are on sale. ($20-$30, 3kingstavern.com)

Despite having released its debut album in 1973, influential South African vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo is showing no signs of slowing down. The consistently touring act, best known for providing backup on Paul Simon’s “Graceland,” will return to the Boulder Theater on March 9. Tickets are on sale. ($25-$40, bouldertheater.com)

Decadence, the big New Year’s Eve dance party at the Colorado Convention Center, added Datsik, Supervision and Paul Basic to its previously announced lineup of Bassnectar, Tiësto, Dada Life, Colorado’s own Pretty Lights and others Dec. 30-31. Tickets are on sale. ($75-$140,
