What does the indie-pop duo of love more than the gnarly wav(v)es in California? Why, lovely games of tennis of course. Best Coast’s new lyric video for “This Lonely Morning” features a game of tennis with an undeniable Wes Anderson flair (but much dirtier and more Southern California than Wes, obviously).
The lyric video format channels undertones of M.I.A.’s “Come Walk with Me” and Lushlife’s “Magnolia,” but takes a more interactive approach. In this case the lyrics are written on Bethany Cosentino’s leather Joni Mitchell jacket and Bobb Bruno’s tennis-racket-air-guitar solos. Best Coast debuted the video on “Funny or Die.”
Best Coast has maintained its beachbum-indie-pop-in-paradise tone in almost all of their recent videos, including the skate-park themed “I Don’t Know How.”
