Denver police placed a man in custody Monday afternoon in the back of a patrol car on Broadway at the 16th Street Mall.
The incident unfolded about 1:30 p.m. with the report of a robbery.
When officers arrived, one man bolted from the scene, near Cheyenne Place and Broadway, and he was caught a short time later, about one block north, near the corner of the mall and Broadway.
Several officers, in marked and unmarked cars, and a couple of motorcycle officers responded.
There were no reports of injuries, said John White, a Denver Police Department spokesman.
Vehicle traffic in the area was slowed by the incident and several pedestrians watched as the man who ran was detained.
