COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A woman accused of shooting her husband 19 times at the couple’s home east of Colorado Springs has been convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The Gazette reports ( ) Donna Raylene Anderson—also known as Donna Kaiser-Anderson—was convicted Friday in the January 2013 death of 52-year-old William “Bill” Coffey. Anderson said she shot her husband in self-defense, but the jury rejected that version of events after fewer than four hours of deliberation.
In a twist, the El Paso County sheriff’s deputies who discovered Coffey’s body also found Anderson’s 83-year-old mother dead in the home. An autopsy found the woman died of natural causes.
