DENVER—Denver Police Chief Robert White is being credited with chasing and arresting a man who was threatening people with a weapon Tuesday afternoon.
Officers say White was returning to headquarters when he saw a man brandishing a knife and chasing people in downtown Denver.
White’s chief of staff, Lt. Matt Murray, said the chief ran after the man, pulled his gun and ordered the man to drop his knife. The man complied and was taken into custody.
According to the Denver Post ( ), White determined the man was either intoxicated or suffering from a mental disorder, so the suspect was taken to get medical care rather than jail.
