A deadly shooting two weeks ago near Sloan’s Lake may have been a case of self-defense, in which the homeowner fatally shot a suspected burglar, according to court documents.
The shooting occurred just outside a home at West 16th Avenue and Yates Street on March 18.
According to an affidavit in support of a search warrant, the homeowner called 911 around 10:40 a.m.
“The caller says a guy came at him and he had to shoot him. … The caller says he was just getting home and the guy came at him. The caller says the guy has some of his possessions and believes it is a burglary,” a detective wrote in the affidavit.
