Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have been blowing up in light of Google’s Pokémon Challenge, where smartphone users capture Pokémon through Google Maps to be a potential candidate for Google’s new Pokémon Master.
Sadly, the position is fictional, part of Google’s yearly tradition for April Fools Day.
To participate, Android and iPhone users must download Google Maps on their smartphones. From there, users click on the “Search” function where they will see a blue Pokeball icon and “Start.” The map then transitions to Mountain View where they can begin the game.
Google is conducting this competition because “Pokémon masters are the world’s greatest digital explorers and their passion for exploring will take Google Maps to the next dimension,” according to Google’s YouTube video on the challenge.
The deadline to catch all 150 Pokemon is April 2.
