Eagle County authorities believe they have recovered the body of a hiker who went missing last month after becoming separated from his party.
Around 1 p.m. Thursday, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office received report of a body found near the Booth Falls area, north of Vail, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Authorities believe the body is that of James McGrogan, 39, of Chesterton, Ind.
McGrogan was last seen March 14.
McGrogan became separated from his group shortly after 10 a.m. that day in the area of the Eiseman Hut.
Rescue crews searched for more than 700 hours, including 24 hours of aviation time by a high-attitude search division of the Colorado Army National Guard.
