Interview with Zach and Abby George, owners
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: We love good food, great beer, delicious wine and people, so we thought, ‘Why not combine them together for our business?’ We not only opened this business to share something we love; we yearned to be part of a community. With our backgrounds working for the government, we moved a lot and missed being a part of a community. We first fell in love with the town and people of Golden, so opening our business here was just natural.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: We are actually classified as a brewpub and not just a brewery. Since we have a kitchen and provide food, it allows us to brew and serve our own beer and have guest taps and wine. We have 22 beer taps, 24 wines on tap, the state’s first Fusion Tower and wine slushies.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: We truly love talking with people and sharing our love for our business and industry. It is awesome to share something we are passionate about and be a part of this great industry of brewing beer. Breweries don’t compete against each other; we unite to help one another out. Where else does that happen?
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: With so many breweries opening every month in Colorado and throughout the country, it’s important to never get complacent.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: Zach spent almost 10 years as a U.S. Marine and Abby worked for the Department of Defense for 10 years. We met overseas and had the opportunity to backpack through Europe where our appreciation for beer, wine and food developed. It was while hiking through Europe when our business plan was created.
