Denver is one of the most LGBT-friendly cities in the nation, according to a .

To honor , the website crunched numbers to find out which cities are most gay-friendly, based on three factors: the Human Rights Campaign Municipal Equality Index Score; the percentage of households with same-sex partners; and the number of sexual orientation-related hate crimes per 100,000 residents.

The top three cities are Seattle, San Francisco and Atlanta.

Denver ranks 12th. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.

Denver is more LGBT-friendly than No. 15 New York and No. 18 Los Angeles.
