Meritage Homes has two sharp-looking models to show you in Brighton, including a ranch, that are the lowest new-home community prices for anything of Meritage’s quality in the Denver area; from the $250s, actually some of the lowest by any builder. And prepare to be surprised by the character of this Brighton neighborhood – with a big central park, and very generous spacing between homes.
“Look at the distance between the models,” said Meritage’s Josh Dowling during a preview of The Preserve in Brighton last week. “The street frontage on home sites in this area is 60 to 70 feet, for good sized homes designed for 50-foot lots.” The Preserve’s master plan, meanwhile, slopes west toward the mountains, giving a panoramic perspective across some large ponds flanking the community entry, connected by trails though the neighborhood to the park. If you haven’t been in Brighton since 2008 or 2009, you’ll also be surprised at how much infrastructure has arrived to serve an area like this: A new King Soopers super-store, three minutes east, set to open this summer; and lots of newer dining and shopping along 160th – which the locals know as Bridge Street, funneling through Brighton’s historic downtown onto Route 7 west to Boulder. Even in a community where models have just opened, this is a fast-paced market, and at these prices Meritage already has 13 homes under contract. Despite that, you can see sites for 10 homes underway for early delivery, some as early as July. That includes a ‘Salida’ plan like the 2-story model you’ll tour, with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, with a full basement, and a 3-car tandem garage included at the standard price. Right now, it’s still under $300,000. You’ll also get to see one of Meritage’s Energy Learning Centers (it’s staged in the garage of the roomy ‘Monarch’ ranch model) that shows off the very best energy package by any builder at this price in Colorado – anchored by special spray-foam insulation that delivers HERS ratings WAY below those of average builders – 20 points lower than Energy Star threshold ratings. So low, in fact, that even at these prices, you could add an optional solar system and be close to zero energy use. Buy by tomorrow and Meritage will give you an added $10,000 on features for that or other options.
