LONGMONT — Police and animal control officers are investigating an attempted dog poisoning that appears to .

Sunday’s discovery was in the 400 block of Collyer Street. The dog’s owner said “about a half-pound of d-CON-laced meatballs were scattered around our front yard” Saturday.

Longmont animal control officers recovered several meatballs laced with poison. The meatballs have not been tested, but the animal control officer said it was obvious poison had been added to the meatballs.

Police are asking people who live in the area to check their yards for potentially contaminated meatballs.
