Interview with Dan Johnson, co-owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: After 12 years in the antiques business, we relocated to the Kittredge-Evergreen area. We began blending antiques with quality, comfortable home furnishings. The Comfortable Home now offers an eclectic mix of upholstered furniture, casegoods, vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces, decorative accessories, art, lighting and gifts at great prices.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: Merchandise is displayed in room settings with a focus on blending texture, style and color. Traditional and transitional furnishings are paired with vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces. Our focus is to help our customers visualize a variety of furnishing and inspire them to take an artistic approach to personalized decor.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: Our customers affirmation, that we offer a truly pleasant and inspirational shopping experience. This inspires us to continually search for new furniture lines and unique decor. It also drives us to perpetually improve upon and reinvent our business

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: The best part of our business leads to the biggest challenge. We want to offer a shopping experience unlike other furniture and home decor stores. We are constantly improving our lines and remerchandising the store. One of the most difficult aspects is to find unusual and interesting home furnishings at a great value.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: Even though our focus is on furniture and home decor, we are a great source for gifts. We have recently expanded our bath and body department, as well as gourmet food, in addition to a large selection of candles, books, rugs, placemats, kitchen towels and seasonal gifts.
