When won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at Sunday’s BET Awards, she took the opportunity to throw a few jabs at fellow nominee Iggy Azalea. Rumors have been circulating recently that claim Azalea’s lyrics are being written by a ghost writer. Leave it to Nicki Minaj to call out Azalea in true “Super Bass” fashion.
“What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it,” Minaj said in her acceptance speech. She then struck several Azalea-like poses to emphasize her point, adding “No, no, no, no, no shade.”
But there certainly seemed to be some shade thrown from Minaj during Iggy Azalea’s performance of “Fancy” at the awards show. During the performance, Minaj made some sarcastic dance moves for the camera. Could Minaj vs. Azalea be the hip-hop beef of 2014? We hope so, because a good rivalry is always good for hip-hop.
