
1 Wide open. Residents in the 17000 block of East 16th Avenue called police because the front door of their vacationing neighbor’s home was open June 17. Nothing appeared to be missing.
2 False Benjamin. A man tried to buy cigarettes and soda with a counterfeit $100 bill at the Daytona Mart at 1411 N. Dayton St. on June 14. When police arrived, the suspect told them he had no idea that the bill was fake, that his friend gave it to him. He was told not to return to the store.
3 Stuck at Stampede. A man reported that someone broke into his car June 14 after he left it in the parking lot of Stampede at 2430 S. Havana St. for three days. He said he left the car because he was too drunk to drive it one night, and that when he came back, his stereo and toolbox were missing.
4 Smashed windshield. Police were called to the 1700 block of Del Mar Parkway because a man smashed his ex-girlfriend’s windshield with a rock after she refused to drive him home June 13. The ex-girlfriend did not give police the suspects’ name or address, so they couldn’t help her.
5 Fake money ATM. The manager of Technical Services Vehicle Impound at 19900 E. Colfax Ave. called police because a man tried to pay for his towed car with two counterfeit $20 bills June 12. The suspect told police that he got the cash from an ATM.
6 Stolen bike trove. A boy was videotaped stealing a BMX bike outside Central High School at 11700 E. 11th Ave. The dean of students gave the officer the suspect’s address, and the officer found several more stolen bikes all the boy’s yard June 11. He was given a summons.
