SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Colorado authorities have recovered a female body from the Arkansas River near Salida three miles from the spot where a Utah woman disappeared after she was tossed from a raft Saturday.
Chaffee County Undersheriff John Spezze says crews pulled the body Wednesday night after someone spotted it floating below the river’s surface.
Spezze says a coroner will officially identify the body but authorities believe it might be 31-year-old Amanda Taylor of Vernal, Utah.
Deputies say Taylor was with six others Saturday night when their raft overturned. Five people made it to shore and authorities rescued a 22-year-old man found clinging to the overturned raft.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1j07OyJ) a Colorado Springs pathologist is expected to perform an autopsy Thursday and identify the body.
