A search of Clear Creek in Golden on Tuesday failed to turn up any clues in the disappearance of a Canadian man last month.
Authorities, including crews from the Golden and Arvada fire departments, took advantage of lower water levels to do a thorough search for signs of 39-year-old Sean Duplessis, a resident of Alberta.
A man who worked with Duplessis told police that they were both near the kayak park along Clear Creek around midnight June 7 when they decided to jump in. According to the man, they had both been drinking.
At the time, creek waters were too high to perform a complete search of the area, according to a Golden news release.
But Tuesday, levels had come down enough for swiftwater rescue crews to search the entire creek from bank to bank.
The 6½-hour effort employed various search techniques, from walking through the water to probing the creek and banks to draining a nearby canal diversion pond. The search area covered the area between downtown Golden to just east of McIntyre Street.
Duplessis is still considered a missing person. Anyone with information on the case should contact contact Golden Police at 303-384-8045.
