The labor union representing 3,000 workers at the JBS meatpacking plant in Greeley said Friday it has reached a tentative contract agreement with JBS.

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 said the deal includes a wage increase of $1.80 an hour over the five-year term of the contract, “affordable” health insurance, and a broadening of paid bereavement leave to include time off for the deaths of aunts, uncles and grandparents of workers.

UFCW and JBS had been holding negotiations since the prior contract expired last August.

if a new deal couldn’t be reached.

A ratification vote on the proposed new contract will be held Tuesday.
