1 Movie night. A man who was watching a movie in his home in the 900 block of South Dawson Way heard two other men outside his window talking about the movie. The man went outside to shoo them off, but one of them threw a rock at his head. The suspects were gone when police arrived July 27.

2 Next in line. Police were called to the Family Dollar at 620 N. Peoria St. because a customer’s wallet was stolen by another customer July 26. The victim set his wallet on the counter and walked away to get a pack of batteries. Security footage showed that the customer in line behind the victim took the wallet and left the store.

3 Scammed. A clerk at the 7-Eleven on 1795 N. Peoria St. called police because someone called the store and pretended to be from 7-Eleven’s corporate headquarters. The impersonator conned the clerk into activating several hundred dollars worth of prepaid phone cards.

4 In broad daylight. A man who lives in the 19500 block of Nassau Drive called police to his home because someone stole the battery from his car while he was on lunch break July 28. The car windows were shattered, and the hood was up with the battery missing.

5 Mysterious bullet hole. A man returned from vacation to his home in the 17400 block of East Temple Drive to find that someone shot a gun through the window of his home office July 27.

6 Unlocked car. Police responded to the 12000 block of East Maple Avenue because a man left his car unlocked and someone stole a gold watch from it July 25.
