The Observatory Park man accused of shooting and killing his wife while she pleaded for help on a call with a 911 operator is expected to appear in court on Friday.
Richard Kirk has been charged with one count of in the death of his wife, 44-year-old Kristine A. Kirk.
Richard Kirk, 48, is scheduled to appear in Denver District Court on Friday for a preliminary hearing.
On April 14, Kristine Kirk called 911, reporting that her husband had used marijuana and possibly taken prescription medication for back pain and was hallucinating and talking about the end of the world. She was on the phone for before she was shot in the head.
The dispatcher who was in charge of relaying information from the 911 operators to officers, en route to the scene that Richard Kirk’s behavior was becoming erratic, that he was asking his wife to shoot him and trying to grab a handgun from a safe.

Officers arrived shortly after Kristine Kirk was heard screaming on the phone, according to police records. Investigators found her body inside the home after Richard Kirk met officers at the front door.
The couple’s three young sons were home at the time of the shooting.
