
Hop the Vote is a competition between Colorado lawmakers to take place at this year’s Great American Beer Festival that takes place Oct. 2-4 at the Colorado Convention Center.
Following the long, proud tradition of beer and politics, Colorado lawmakers will compete against each other with their own creations during an event put on by the during the Great American Beer Festival in October.
“Hop the Vote” will be a competition between the Colorado House of Representatives and the Colorado Senate and is intended to showcase how the guild works with lawmakers on public policy.
Each team will brew its own beer at a local brewery this week, and GABF attendees will be able to vote for their favorites at the Brewers Gulid booth. The winning team gets medals, bragging rights and omnipotent power.
The Colorado House team will brew its beer at the Friday morning. Members include Reps. Joann Ginal, D-Fort Collins; Chris Holbert, R-Parker; Polly Lawrence, R-Douglas County; Dan Pabon, D-Denver; Brittany Pettersen, D-Lakewood; Jonathan Singer, D-Longmont; and Spencer Swalm, R-Centennial.
The Colorado Senate team will brew its entry at Wednesday morning. The team includes Sens. Matt Jones, D-Louisville; Andy Kerr, D-Lakewood; Scott Renfroe, R-Greeley; Pat Steadman, D-Denver; Lois Tochtrop, D-Thornton; and Rachel Zenzinger, D-Arvada.
