CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE — A heavy soaking Thursday night left the grounds at Cherry Hills Country Club soggy Friday morning, and some fans heading to the BMW Championship will face a few parking workarounds.

With Thursday night’s rain, BMW Championship officials have closed all the grass parking lots for the event for Friday. Those with passes for the BMW owners lot and the C and V lots need to park at Sports Authority Field at Mile High and there will be shuttles there.

Also, the M and B lots have been closed and moved to the C lot, which is at the corner of Colorado and Hampden.

The general public lot remains near E470 and Peoria Street. Also, shuttles are still running from Belleview Light Rail Station and there is a public drop off at the Belleview station.

The late afternoon storm Thursday, which started with lightning that stopped the first round at about 5:50 p.m., left the Cherry Hills wet, cloudy and cool Friday morning. Temperatures were in the mid-50s overnight.

There are nine golfers who have to finish the first round, and the second round is scheduled to begin at 11:20 a.m. off the first and 10th tees.

Friday’s forecast is for highs in the upper-60s and a 60 percent chance of rain. It’s a far cry from Wednesday’s pro-am when temperatures were in the mid-90s.
