Area streams remain in excellent condition and are fishing well. Fly-fishers are doing well with nymphs and terrestrial patterns. Small ponds continue to produce good numbers of panfish, although the fish are typically small. As the air temperatures cool, look for the trout fishing to pick up, in part because the stocking trucks will soon be making their rounds. Rocky Mountain Arsenal has been fishing well for northern pike with spinners; you have about four weeks left in the season there. Chatfield is seeing the trout and smallmouth action picking up. Try crankbaits and spoons for both. Trout anglers will find good action at Gross, Estes and the Red Feathers area.
