U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman’s campaign didn’t care much for Democratic challenger Andrew Romanoff’s for his past support for “personhood” laws.
On Tuesday, they fired back with a quick 15-second online ad in which an Air Force veteran says, “These smears against Mike make me angry.”
.
She then talks about the Republican congressman’s military service, including taking part in both Iraq wars. She also highlights his tackling of a measure that offered more protections to victims of sexual assaults in the military (in the woman’s words, by “taking on the generals”). As a veteran, she thanks Coffman.
Here’s the interesting part: Those most likely to see the ad on social media or other digital outlets are those who have seen Romanoff’s ad on TV. Coffman’s campaign is making use of voter data, set-top box viewing data from Denver area subscribers and digital data to target those voters as best as they can. In 2012, President Barack Obama’s campaign was a heavy client of the same firm, including in Denver.
