Police are investigating after a 16-year-old Colorado Springs girl left her high school Tuesday with a man she met on the Internet and traveled to Greeley.
The girl left Palmer High School without permission about 1 p.m. A fellow student recorded the man’s license plate — registered to a Greeley address — and handed it over to police, according to a news release.
A school resource officer contacted the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, after which deputies “followed leads and found the unharmed runaway.”
Police did not identify the man who drove the girl and said they were in the process of reuniting the teen with her mother, the release said.
