It’s appalling that someone who says he is the Sandy Hook mass shooting actually took place is running for Pueblo County Commission.
That is, to put it delicately, a bizarre position that reflects a warped view of the world.
If there are voters in Pueblo County who feel that they cannot support Sal Pace, the Democrat in this race, they should at least refuse to vote in the contest.
His challenger, Tom Ready, does not deserve their support.
During a recent debate, Pace questioned Ready, a Republican, about a link he said Ready had on his Facebook page. The link was to a piece that called the shooting a hoax.
Ready replied that there is “still a question about whether it really happened.”
Still a question? Twenty-six people, most of them children, when a went on a rampage in a Connecticut elementary school in 2012.
As difficult as it may be to comprehend, the tragedy has spawned a “truther” movement — no less divorced from reality than the 9/11 truthers. While this fantasy may get traction on the Internet, someone who entertains such disturbing notions has no place in a position of authority.
