Getting your player ready...

That late-September weekend of lager and lederhosen is upon us: Longmont Oktoberfest is back on Sept. 26-27.

Presented by Left Hand Brewing Company, Longmont’s autumn bellweather gathering will take place at the town’s Roosevelt Park at 700 Longs Peak Ave. Six local breweries will be featured: Left Hand, Oskar Blues, Pumphouse, 300 Suns, Grossen Bart and Long’s Peak.

No Oktoberfest would be complete without food and music, so there’s that, too.

Saturday will be marked by the grilling of a 200-foot-long bratwurst at the park, courtesy of Boulder Sausage. Yes, there’s a stein-holding contest, including one for kids, so folks will see if anyone on the Front Range can match the legendary Munich beer-hall servers.

The 2014 Longmont Oktoberfest will benefit the Left Hand Brewing Foundation, Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley, and A Precious Child.
