The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman Monday night in connection with a shooting death.
Heather Neville, 59 was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder as part of an on-going police investigation involving an altercation between Neville and the deceased.
Deputies were called to the home on the 9800 block of Calhan Highway at about 12:30 p.m. on reports of a shooting. They found a man dead of an apparent gunshot wound, Cmdr. Jeff Kramer said.
Authorities detained four people for questioning following the incident. The four adults and several children were on scene when authorities arrived, Kramer said, adding that all those at the home knew each other.
“They had been there evidently during the shooting,” Kramer said. “We don’t know yet what led up to the shooting.”
Kramer said the sheriff’s office is confident there is no risk to the community.
The victim’s name has not been released.
