isn’t quite the dark and angsty teenager who once churned out music as if it was the only thing that kept him going. At 34, Oberst has slowed down, cheered up and found some emotional clarity. Taking three years — an eternity in his schedule — to write his latest solo album, “Upside Down Mountain,” Oberst took time to open a bar, hang out with his wife, and really enjoy life.
On Tuesday, the singer-songwriter behind Bright Eyes returned to Colorado in support of his latest solo effort. While the California folk-rock band Dawes backed him for most of the summer, Oberst brought a new group of musicians with him to Colorado, which included guitarist Jonathan Wilson, who helped record and produce the new album.
