BOULDER — Speaking Tuesday during Colorado’s weekly news conference, Buffs quarterback Sefo Liufau said the CU offense has too many options for defenses to double-team standout wide receiver Nelson Spruce.
, Spruce set school records for catches in a game (13) and consecutive games with at least one touchdown reception (six).
Colorado (2-2, 0-1 Pac-12) plays at California (2-1, 0-2) Saturday at 2 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks).
“If you want to stop a big threat like Spruce, (double-teaming him) is one way to do it,” Liufau said.
“I don’t think teams will do it, given the other receivers that we have. But that’s their choice.”
