GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A child abuse report was filed two months before a baby girl in foster care was shaken to death.
The (Grand Junction) Daily Sentinel reports that authorities were called in July. The foster mother of baby Angel Place called authorities after noticing the baby had a mark above her right eye after returning from the care of Sydney White, now charged in connection with the baby’s death.
An investigation did not result in charges. A case worker had supervised the exchange and noticed no scratches.
Angel Place was removed from life support Sept. 17 at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, one day after being hospitalized in Grand Junction. White is being held at the Mesa County Jail on $100,000 bond on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death.
