Denver-based on Thursday said it plans to develop a line of hot, iced, milk and water-based coffee pods for use in Sparkling Drink Systems International’s ViBEration countertop carbonation appliances.
The companies are trying to crack the ready-to-drink coffee market, with a home-produced product.
“We believe the new partnership between Marley Coffee and SDS will not only expand our customers’ options when it comes to enjoying their favorite coffee blends, but also demonstrate how cutting-edge technology goes hand-in-hand with this age-old refreshment option,” Marley CEO Brent Toevs said. “Together, we are leading the way forward to a new and exciting chapter for coffee lovers everywhere.”
The coffee pods, likely available in the U.S. in early 2015, will include Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up,” “Lively Up!” and “One Love” flavors, as well as flavors exclusive to the ViBEration line.
High-end coffee shops often serve a glass of sparking water with their espresso drinks. But recently, In July, Austin-based Coffer began bottling naturally carbonated, cold-brewed coffee.
The ViBEration system uses a powdered technology to deliver the fizz to beverages rather than a CO2 cartridge.
Sparkling Drink Systems also has a development agreement with Golden-based Pat’s Backcountry Beverages to develop alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer concentrates for the ViBEration system. Pat’s products are already compatible with Sodastream machines and carbonator bottles intended for backpacking.
