That’s downtown Boston to the east of Alumni Stadium

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — For the second time in 30 years, I’m back at Alumni Stadium among a bunch of Jesuits and others for a Boston College football game.
The last time, I was watching Doug Flutie play quarterback for the Eagles against Temple, gathering material for a subsequent feature story. It was early in the 1984 season, the one that would lead to Flutie’s famous Hail Mary pass to Gerard Phalen against Miami.
This time, there’s a statue of Flutie outside the north entrance to the stadium, depicting him throwing that pass, and the Eagles are about to face Colorado State. There is a Flutie on the Eagles’ roster, but it’s freshman quarterback Troy Flutie, Doug’s nephew.
By the way, the Rams’ Friday walk-through actually ended up being conducted on the field at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, not at the Patriots’ adjacent practice field, and Patriots coach Bill Belichick paid a visit.
The game, which begins at 10:30 a.m. (Mountain), will be on ROOT in the Rocky Mountain Region. The network will be picking up the feed from the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Regional Sports Network.
