At ‘s star-studded concert in Nashville on Sept. 15 celebrating the 15-year anniversary of its acclaimed “Nashville Sessions” album, frontman Vince Herman introduced Little Feat co-founder, keyboardist Bill Payne, as the “newest member” of the band. Payne has been playing with the Boulder-based jamgrass outfit as a featured guest for a few years, but with Little Feat on an extended hiatus, the boogie-woogie maestro of the Hammond B-3 is joining the 25-year-old Leftover Salmon as a permanent fixture on keys.
Sept. 15’s concert at Nashville’s venerable Ryman Auditorium was a reunion show heralding one of Leftover’s most memorable recording sessions. The all-star lineup joining Leftover included Del McCoury, Taj Mahal, Sam Bush, Randy Scruggs, John Cowan, Todd Mohr, Col. Bruce Hampton and Widespread Panic’s John Bell.
