has returned with her first new single since 2013’s “Pure Heroine.” Monday marked the release of the new Lorde song, “Yellow Flicker Beat,” off “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1” soundtrack.

The New Zealand star moans with her haunting huskiness over an industrial sounding drum machine and moody synths on “Yellow Flicker Beat.” Though it doesn’t have the mid-tempo, pop spark of “Pure Heroine” material, “Yellow” does deliver on the Lorde atmosphere and cryptic lyrics that originally set the singer apart.

Lorde will also be curating the rest of the “Mockingjay — Part 1” soundtrack.

“Mockingjay” is in theaters on Nov. 21, and the soundtrack is out this fall.

Ahead of the soundtrack release, . While it seems like she’ll be releasing singles until her next album, we thought she should stay out of the spotlight and comeback with another surprise hit.
