The Steamboat Springs Police Department believes it has solved the mystery of how a bullet recently got lodged in the back of a vehicle being driven by City Attorney Tony Lettunich.

Police on Thursday arrested a man they suspect fired a gun through a wall of his home on Oct. 1, sending a bullet into the back of Lettunich’s vehicle as he and his wife were driving by the home on Clubhouse Drive on their way to dinner.

It appears Lettunich’s vehicle was inadvertently hit by the bullet. The Lettunichs were not injured.

Steamboat resident Scott Brooks turned himself in Thursday evening on suspicion of a felony charge of illegally discharging a firearm.

He was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
