Re: “Cory Gardner for U.S. Senate,” Oct. 12 endorsement.

I am very disappointed with your endorsement of Cory Gardner. I wonder if you truly examined his record on women’s rights, gay rights and the environment. How many times did he mindlessly vote to repeat the Affordable Care Act? Was voting to shut down the government a good thing? What exactly did he do as a congressman that benefited our country instead of just his party? It has been the mission of Sen. Mitch McConnell and Rep. John Boehner to undermine the presidency of Barack Obama. They have shunned all attempts at compromise. It is naive to believe they will change their stripes if the Senate turns red.

Thank you, Denver Post editorial board, for the thoughtful and informative endorsement of Cory Gardner for U.S. Senate. Itap obvious that Gardner is not wanting a ticket to Washington for the purpose of stopping gay marriage or eliminating abortions. His priorities were well articulated and the issues he spoke about were relevant to the current state of our country. If Mark Udall’s ads really show what he is most passionate about, he may just want to run for chairman of Planned Parenthood.

It is difficult to understand how you can ignore the role that Rep. Cory Gardner played in the dysfunctional Congress of the past two years. Additionally, your dismissal of his cultural and social views as irrelevant appears to disregard any future impact of his beliefs on these matters. In my opinion, Sen. Mark Udall has worked to move legislation forward and has a better understanding of the social and cultural views of Colorado than Gardner. Colorado voters would serve the best interests of their future by electing Udall to a second term.
