Police in Commerce City are investigating an attempted child abduction that happened Wednesday morning.

The attempted abduction occurred about 9:45 a.m. at Pioneer Park where a man walked up behind an 11-year-old boy and grabbed him by the shirt and backpack before a struggle ensued. A woman nearby yelled at the suspect, who then fled the scene.

The woman drove the boy home and police were called shortly thereafter, according to a news release.

Police say the suspect is a white man in his 30s with severe acne with a pinkish undertone and open sores. The man has brown eyes, a scruffy goatee and a mustache.

Anyone with information about the attempted abduction is asked to call police at (303) 289-3626.
