A 45-year-old man was arrested Saturday for investigation of stealing $20,000 in construction materials from a Lone Tree building site, authorities say.

The name of the suspect has not been released.

A Douglas County sheriff’s deputy arrested the suspect after a witness followed the thief through Castle Rock and Littleton onto Interstate-25 as metal debris tumbled onto the highway from the thief’s truck bed, “causing a traffic hazard,” a news release by Lone Tree police says.

Lone Tree police were called to the construction site near I-25 and Lincoln Avenue at 9:20 a.m.
