Marijuana advocates want to rebrand a stretch of South Broadway — commonly known as Antique Row — as the Green Mile. (Andy Cross, The Denver Post)

Re: “Branding South Broadway the Green Mile is a bad idea,” Nov. 8 editorial.

It is with significant smirkiness that I see The Postap powers-that-be frowning upon the concept of South Broadway’s Green Mile. How narrow-minded! Maybe South Broadway is not actually known as Antique Row. And maybe the owners of all the moribund antique shops on this recently revitalized stretch would benefit greatly from a joint (no pun intended, I swear) marketing effort that might just bring thousands of new customers to the area.

Just because someone wants to visit a “green” shop does not exclude them from antique shopping as well. This looks to me to be a golden opportunity for both camps.

It sounds like the marijuana industry is trying to use the other merchants on South Broadway to do an end run around the marijuana advertising rules. I think the antique dealers are smart to be skeptical of this proposal.
